A grilling experience at Bear Grylls Adventure

Aston & Fincher Team Building

Upon arrival at the bi-monthly full team meeting on Thursday 12th September, the Aston & Fincher team were greeted with an ominous message on the overhead projector “ATTENTION!!!! You are about to receive special ops information!!” – I wonder what it could mean…

For the past few weeks, rumours circled the office as to what this ‘special event’ could be. It was announced that a team-building exercise would take place after the meeting and everyone’s imagination ran wild - from bungee jumping to paintballing, no idea was overlooked. Aston & Fincher MD, Oliver Fincher, announced that the team would be going to Bear Grylls Adventure at the Birmingham NEC and everyone (well, mostly) was so excited!

After a nerve-wracking car journey, staff were split into 5 teams when they arrived at basecamp: The Firm, The Krays, Peaky Blinders, Old Trafford Cripz and The Poldarks. Ahead of them were 4 gruelling physical and mental challenges that would test their communication, resourcefulness and logic. This included an assault course, archery, an escape room and a survival maze!

After climbing up high and ducking down low, swinging from monkey bars and crawling under nets – the teams had successfully completed their challenges! Here’s what they had to say:

“A great experience of working together to overcome fears as a team. Physical and mental challenges became fun for everyone!”

“Fantastic, Bear Grylls was great fun! I will be taking my family along for more fun”

“I had a great time. Loved getting everyone together and not having to think about sales or targets. My favourite activity was the assault course and I was really impressed that everyone had a go at it! I have come away with a lovely big bruise on my arm, but every time I look at it, I smile”

In the evening, the team were treated to a meal at Bank restaurant in Brindley Place, Birmingham.
