The man behind ITZI Towels and Turbans has been given a prestigious Award for Innovation, by a panel of 60 industry experts, including the beauty press, filmmakers, fashion designers, educators and influencers.

Peter Johnson, who has been in the hairdressing business for over 50 years, has been recognised for his mission to reduce the cost of using a towel in the salon to as little as 2p per usage.  Vital in these days of soaring utility bills!

Peter explained: “As well as cutting the cost of laundry bills, it was particularly important to me that ITZI towels and turbans would still look good and enhance the overall experience in the salon”.

The luxurious, soft-touch ITZI turbans add a touch of Hollywood glamour, while being a damage-free way to quick-dry hair before styling.  They can also be sold to clients, creating a revenue stream, which helps the towels pay for themselves, making them cost neutral.

The innovation award was sponsored by Kérastase, as part of the Most Wanted Awards, run by Creative HEADS Magazine, and was created to reward an initiative that benefits the hairdressing industry at large.

Creative HEAD publisher Catherine Handcock explained: “Doing business sustainably has become a key goal for so many salons, and ITZI delivers all the green qualities bosses are looking for, without compromising on quality. The fact these towels and turbans out-perform even disposables is quite extraordinary.”
